If there is water inside your phone/tablet, perform the following:
- Place the phone/tablet in a dry, well-ventilated environment and wipe the surface dry with tissue paper.
- If your phone/tablet is powered on, press the Power button to power it off. If your phone/tablet is powered off, do not power it on.
- Remove the SIM card and memory card.
- Take your device and proof of purchase to an HONOR Authorized Service Center for assistance.
Precautions
- Do not move or shake your phone/tablet so as to prevent water from moving around inside the phone/tablet.
- Do not try to dry your phone/tablet with a hairdryer, an oven, or any other device that produces heat.
- Do not attempt to power on your phone/tablet. Otherwise, it may damage the electronic components in your phone/tablet.
Your phone/tablet is shipped with an IPX rating defined in the IEC standard 60529. However, water resistance is not permanent, and will deteriorate with daily wear, bumps, knocks, and other impacts. As such, it is recommended that the device be kept away from water as much as possible.
Water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions, and might diminish over time. Do not intentionally place your phone/tablet into water, such as when you are swimming or showering.
About liquid damage repair
- If my phone/tablet is damaged by liquid, should I take it to an HONOR Authorized Service Center to be repaired?
- If your phone/tablet only came into contact with a small amount of fresh water, put your phone/tablet in a well-ventilated environment to dry out the water. However, if there is water deep inside your phone/tablet, this drying method will not work and it may cause damage to the internal components after your phone/tablet is powered on. To reduce possible risks, you are advised to take your phone/tablet and proof of purchase to an HONOR Authorized Service Center for a thorough inspection.
- If a large amount of liquid entered your phone/tablet, please take your device and proof of purchase to an HONOR Authorized Service Center for assistance at your earliest convenience.
- How will my phone/tablet be repaired, and how much will the repair cost?
As a standard procedure, your phone/tablet will first be disassembled, the battery will be removed, and then the phone/tablet will be cleaned and dried.
Our specialists at the service center will then test whether the phone/tablet has been damaged by the liquid. If it has not been damaged, your phone/tablet will be reassembled. If the phone/tablet has been damaged, it will be sent to be repaired.
Liquid damage is not covered by the warranty. Repair fees will depend on how seriously the phone/tablet is damaged. For example, if the main board or other components are faulty, they may need a replacement.
