Macro Mobile Photography Honor 9X pro samples

Huawei Next Image is a platform to showcase and potentially win big prizes for all Huawei and Honor photography enthusiasts.

I consider photography enthusiast. I try to take good pictures and eager to learn new techniques every day. It is a well-known fact that Huawei has massively contributed to improving mobile photography via its Huawei and Honor smartphones. Honor devices are a sophisticated but affordable alternative to great mobile photography.

There are many aspects of photography. I personally keen on Landscape and Macro photography. Particularly Macro photography allows me to get closer to things that would have normally overlook in daily life. I must admit Macro Mobile Photography is one of the difficult category to master. However, once we become good at it is a significant asset to our collection. If you want to show off at your social media than I would advise you to improve Macro photography.

thanks to Honor and Huawei devices that macro mobile photography has become more affordable. Trust me we do not need expensive camera gear to create stunning macro photography. The following are some of my key considerations for macro mobile photography. (note: sample pictures are taken using Honor 9X Pro and Huawei devices)

Lenses

I would advise anyone not to invest on buying extra kit for macro mobile photography. Rather you should try to develop your skill on it. Larger and higher Meghapixel image sensor has become new normal for most of devices. This implies of many budget smartphones. Always use main lens of camera, don’t use zoom or wideangle lenses. Reason behind this is, main sensor always has best technology such as higher MP, fast autofocus and large sensor. This helps to capture great amount of details of the subject.

Know your device:

It is always best to know all features and capacity of the device you are using to take pictures. it is very helpful when composing and taking a shot. For example, My Honor 9xpro has 48MP main camera sensor that means I can have more room to crop out while without losing details of my subject. It also has a larger sensor that means It would require less light to capture the snap. Therefore I can use this lens even in low light conditions.

Lighting:

Light makes a huge difference in macro photography. It is best to have a good amount of light on the subject. Having said this, strong light may create strong shadows and highlight which is not good for Macro photography. You can use your body, any other object or your friend to block the source of stronger light.

Background and depth of field,

These two factors are very important for macro photography; when it comes to framing the shot keep track of background as well. Background also enhances the overall looks of the image. It is awesome to capture reflections of background on the subject if it’s possible. Focusing becomes very easy if the background is different (color) or has some distance from the subject.

Focus Framing

Knowing the device is important to perfect on focusing. Every device has a different level of focal length. Lenses have different capacities for focus. I personally like to use manual focus. However, some devices have brilliant autofocus. Most Honor devices have Pro mode on the ‘More’ menu tab. Inside pro mode, Leave everything in Auto. Change autofocus to Manual (MF) and choose close range (towards flower icon.) The second setting is a focus point needs to be changed to single [ ].

While capturing images, you need to keep moving forward or backward to get the subject on focus. Pin focus on the subject to enhance focusing.

Framing is flexible on macro photography. Images can be rearranged and cropped to adjust composition.

Post edit

Knowledge to edit on the post is also important. Increasing the sharpness of the image is essential. Also reducing highlight and bringing shadows helps to improve image quality.
