Unable to use hotkey functions
Unable to use hotkey functions |
Check whether all the function keys (F1 to F12) are working properly. For example, open Edge Explorer, and press F5 to check the current status of this key based on the following scenarios:
Scenario 1: If you managed to refresh the browser, this means that F5 is working properly as a function key. Then, press Fn to enable the hotkey function. Press F5 again. When you see the volume down icon on your screen, itindicates that F5 works as a hotkey now.
Scenario 2: When the screen displays the volume down icon, it indicates that F5 works as a hotkey now. Press Fn to disable the hotkey function. Press F5 again. If you managed to refresh the browser, it means that F5 works as a function key now.
If either scenarios do not occur, there may be a malfunctioning hardware in your computer.
Check whether Function key priority is enabled in PC Manager.
Open PC Manager, and click the settings icon in the top-right corner.
Click Settings > System settings.
Check Function key priority.
Another possible reason is that there are broken or forbidden hotkey services and processes in the computer. The hotkey function is controlled by the OSDMainService Windows Service.exe and OSDListener.exe, and the following three scenarios may occur:
1. OSDMainService Windows Service is forbidden.
To resolve this, perform the following:
Enter Services in the search box on the taskbar.
Double-click OSDMainService Windows Service.
Set Startup type to Automatic
If you cannot find this service, OSDMainService Windows Service may have been deleted.
Visit the Honor official website (https://www.honor.com/global/support/), select Laptops.
Select your computer model.
Click Product Support > Hot Key, and download the installation package.
Use PC Manager to manage drivers, hardware etc. Certain features installed using a third-party manager program may not work when the program is disabled or deleted. You are advised to use the pre-installed Honor PC Manager.
2. OSDMainService Windows Service can be found in Services while OSDListener.exe is removed from Task Manager.
To resolve this, perform the following:
Enter Services in the search box on the taskbar.
Double-click OSDMainService Windows Service.
Click Stop and then Start under Service status.
Open Task Manager and check whether OSDListener.exe is listed.
If you are unable to find OSDListener.exe, perform the following:
Open Control Panel and click Uninstall a program.
Uninstall HWosd 9.0.1.39.
Visit the official Honor website (https://www.honor.com/global/support/), select Laptops.
Select your computer model.
Click Product Support > Hot Key, and download the installation package.
3. Both OSDMainService Windows Service and OSDListener.exe exist in Services
To resolve this, perform the following:
Open Control Panel and select Uninstall a program.
Uninstall HWosd 9.0.1.39.
Visit the official Honor website (https://www.honor.com/global/support/), select Laptops.
Select your computer model.
Click Product Support > Hot Key, and download the installation package.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to perform a forced shutdown then restart the computer.
- If the issue persists, back up important data, press and hold F10 during startup to restore your computer to its factory settings.
Restoring your system to the factory settings will clear all your data in the C drive. Back up any important data before you proceed.
