Alarm does not go off as scheduled or there is no alert tone

Perform the following to troubleshoot the issue:

If you are using a third-party alarm app

If the app is forbidden from running in the background or cleared from the background, there will be no alarm from this app. To resolve this issue, perform the following:

  1. Allow the app to start automatically and run in the background.

    • Open Settings, search for and access Launch, turn off the switch next to the app, then turn the switch on again. Make sure that Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background are all enabled.

  1. Lock the app on the Recent tasks screen.
    • Go to the Recent tasks screen, find the app in question, and swipe down on the app preview. If a lock icon is displayed in the upper right corner of the app preview, it indicates that the app is locked. To unlock the app, swipe down again.
  2. Enable the app to run at startup.
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps, find the app, go to Permissions > View all permissions, and enable run at startup.

If the alarm does not ring in Sub-user or Guest mode

  1. If alarms set by a sub-user or guest do not ring after a restart:

    By design, your phone will switch to Owner mode after a restart, and alarms set by any sub-user or guest will not ring.

  2. If alarms do not ring after switching to another sub-user:

    When multiple sub-users have been added, if your phone is currently in Owner mode, alarms set by the owner and the last sub-user that has been switched to are active. If your phone is currently in Sub-user mode, alarms set by this specific user and the owner are active.

  3. If alarms do not ring after exiting Guest mode:

    Alarms set by the guest will not ring in Owner or Sub-user mode. It is recommended that you set alarms in Owner mode.

  4. If your case is not listed above, refer to If the alarm does not ring when it goes off below for further troubleshooting.

If an alarm does not ring during holidays

Verify that App lock is not enabled for the Calendar app. Otherwise, Alarm will fail to obtain the holiday information from Calendar, leading to this issue.

If the alarm does not ring when it goes off

The alarm tone volume may be too low or your phone is in Silent mode. Refer to the following to troubleshoot:

  1. Adjust the alarm volume.

    Go to Settings > Sound/Sounds & vibration and drag the slider to adjust the alarm volume. Check whether the ringtone file can be played properly. If not, switch to a different ringtone file.

  2. Disable the Flip to mute function.

    Open Settings, search for and access Flip, and check whether Mute timers and alarms is enabled. If so, disable it. (If Flip/Mute timers and alarms can't be found, it indicates that your phone does not support this function.)

  1. Clear the Clock cache.

    Open Settings, search for and access Apps, find Clock, go to Storage > CLEAR CACHE, and add alarms again.

  2. Restore your phone to its factory settings.

    Back up your data, and restore your phone to its factory settings.

Alarms do not ring when the phone is powered off

  1. Allow alarms to ring when the phone is turned off.

Before turning off your phone, remember to select the check box at the bottom of the screen to allow alarms to ring when the phone is turned off.

  1. Check whether the set alarm time has passed after your phone powers on.

System startup may take some time to complete. If your phone has not completed the startup process until after the set alarm time, the alarm will not ring. It is recommended that you set the scheduled power-on time to be at least 15 minutes earlier than the alarm time.

  1. If your case is not listed above, refer to If the alarm does not ring when it goes off above for further troubleshooting.

If the issue persists

If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Honor Customer Service Center for assistance.
