HONOR PocketVision: AI-Enabled APP for the Visually Impaired

At IFA, HONOR launched PocketVision – an app that harnesses the power of HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 PRO’s AI and quad camera technology to help the visually impaired read documents, menus and other text with ease. Developed by social enterprise Eyecoming and pioneered by HONOR’s cutting-edge technologies, including HONOR 20 PRO’s 48MP main camera, 8MP telephoto camera and HiAI capability powered by Kirin 980 chipset, PocketVision features three key modes – Text-to-Speech, Zoom-In and Negative Image - to help people read more clearly. To help raise awareness of the barriers blind and partially sighted people face, HONOR has partnered with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) which supports people with vision impairment. PocketVision can be downloaded for free from today on the Huawei AppGallery and supports English, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Italian and Chinese language

HONOR 20 PRO: New Color and Software Update

HONOR also unveiled a new color for the HONOR 20 PRO – Icelandic Frost, which is inspired by the magnificence of Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon in Iceland. Equipped with the World’s First Dynamic Holographic Design, the HONOR 20 PRO Icelandic Frost edition captures the wonders of the glacier lagoon where icebergs glisten in the sunset, making the smartphone shine like a diamond. Moreover, the new EMUI 10.0/Magic UI 3.0 (Beta Version) will be available in Q4 for application and will be upgraded through HOTA. With this upgrade, users will get to enjoy a brand new Morandi Palette UI design that offers a wide selection of elegant and calm color palettes. A new Dark Mode option will also be available, which is intended to bring more comfort to users’ eyes. All in all, the EMUI 10.0/Magic UI 3.0 will make HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 PRO an even more more user-friendly and visually pleasing smartphone.

The HONOR 20 PRO continues to receive positive reviews from media and industry peers. It was accorded 111 points by DxOMark, the gold standard benchmark for camera quality in the industry. More recently, it was also named the Lifestyle Smartphone 2019 – 2020 by EISA (Expert Imaging and Sound Association).

HONOR’s New IoT Strategy for the Future

In a move to create a more connected and intelligent world for consumers, HONOR outlined its IoT strategy dubbed “1+8+N”, which implies one HONOR Smartphone, eight categories of in-house devices and a wide range of accompanying products from its partners. The HONOR Band 5, a premium fitness tracker and smart band is part of this IoT offering and our recommended retail price is around 30 Euros2. The accessible price means everyone can have a wearable to measure heart rate accurately, monitor sleep, and track exercise, for a healthier lifestyle3. At the 2019 Huawei Developer Conference last month, HONOR launched its first smart screen product, HONOR Vision, which is equipped with the company’s self-developed intelligent chipsets—the Honghu 818 Intelligent Display Chipset, an AI Camera NPU chipset and a flagship-level Wi-Fi chipset.
