HONOR Talents annual exhibition held in the Modern Arts Museum, continues to inspire the future

[Mexico City, November 30, 2023] The HONOR Talents annual exhibition is held in the Modern Arts Museum, a significant artistic center in Mexico. The event is jointly organized with the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment, and Technology (COMCE) and Diseña México, a national design competition supported by UNESCO and various universities.

The annual exhibition showcases over 50 artworks from global awards of young talents in Mexico, Peru, China, Japan, Europe, and other regions. It includes graphic design, visual design, art installation, and extended reality (XR) artworks presented in the exhibition. In addition, the exhibition presents interactive artwork named " What's Happening on the Stone?" by Shi Yuan, a student at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. The Interaction Arts was one of the most popular artworks in the exhibition.

Cao Wei, CEO of HONOR Latin America Region, Man Tang, General Manager of HONOR Mexico along with H.E. Sergio Ley, former Mexican Ambassador to China and President of Asia Pacific Direction at COMCE, and judges from HONOR Talents Latin America Region participated in the event. More than 200 guests from different sections, including arts, culture, tourism, and education, and representatives from international organizations, universities, and young talents who get LATAM region awards attended the event.

HONOR, Platform for Innovation of Young Talents

At the event, Man Tang, the General Manager of HONOR Mexico, thanked all the attendees and congratulated award winners from the Latin American Region, “HONOR focuses on innovation, quality, and service as our core business strategies. “He expressed that in the future, HONOR will invest more resources for future talent activities, including empowering the youth, innovation, and sustainable development in Mexico.

Meanwhile, H.E. Sergio Ley, former Mexican Ambassador to China, expressed his appreciation for the HONOR Talents design awards. He stated that this was his second time participating in the HONOR Talents Exhibition in Mexico City. Seeing a technology company endorsing young talents and putting resources into connecting arts and technology is very good. “I hope HONOR continues to host this program while expanding its influence in the Latin American region,” he said.

Innovation Empowers Latin America Talents, HONOR Provides Better Arts Platform

In 2023, HONOR established the first edition of the HONOR Talents Global Design Award LATAM Division and formed a regional Judge panel including David Romero, a professor from the Tecnológico de Monterrey; Julio Frías Peña, co-founder of Diseña México; YUNUNE, Mexican contemporary artist, and Edward Venero, an artist from Peru.

HONOR has set up ten best awards and a special contribution award for the Latin America Region. University students and young designers in the Latin American region participated under three themes: Renewal of Life, Cultural Prosperity, and Genesis, demonstrating a unique perspective on arts, culture, and technology.

Award winners from the Latin America region attended the exhibition with their families and friends. HONOR and judge panels presented them with official certificates, and HONOR gave them as a reward. Meanwhile, the artwork “Disco Droid 3000” from a group of students of Technology de Monterrey got the “Art and Technology Special Contribution Award.”

In addition, Isaac García Vega, a student of the Universidad del Valle de México, made a speech during the award ceremony, expressing gratitude to HONOR Talents and the story of his design. His work, "El Descanso Eterno," visually represents Mexico's rich culture. "Art and technology have sparked more under today's changing media. Art and technology have become inseparable, offering more forms from design to expression. Additionally, technology provides richer resources for cultural thinking and art heritage, allowing more young people to inherit art and participate in cultural exchanges through creative expression", Isaac said.

Fiorella Gómez, a student at the Universidad San Ignacio in Peru, presented her artwork “Renacer Armonioso,” expressing thoughts on the past, present, and future through objects of white lotus flowers, intertwined hands, and leaves. Simultaneously, she adapted her design to incorporate smartphone functions and products, including phone themes, phone cases, and other elements and received unanimous praise from the judging panel.

HONOR hopes to provide a broader international platform for creative young talents. Later on, HONOR Talents will hold various exhibitions in China, Europe, Southeast Asia, and other locations to showcase the creativity of young talents to the world.

Reducing Ocean Plastics, Art and technology drives sustainable development

In the Art Salon session, two Mexican judges, Julio Frías Peña and YUNUENE, discussed “technology as a tool for artistic expression towards sustainability” at the art and technology level. The unique discussion brought profound insights into art, technology, and environmental protection.

Additionally, YUNUENE exhibited two of her oil paintings. “Algae Rhythms” was also dynamically designed and adapted to the HONOR V Purse foldable phone. YUNUENE demonstrated and introduced its thinking on ocean protection issues in its design and explained the fresh ideas brought about by combining technological products and artistic concepts.

As a co-founder of Diseña México, Julio Frías Peña presented the Diseña México 2023 is to address environmental issues, targeting plastic reduction in oceans. He hopes students can express their ideas and thoughts about environmental protection through artistic design. In 2023, HONOR collaborated with Diseña México, and HONOR created two core awards to help young designers incubate their ideas on reducing plastic in oceans.
