Top UK’s ice swimmers brave the cold with HONOR MagicWatch 2 despite the storms

Some of the globes elite ice swimmers are set to brave icy waters this weekend and compete in the International Ice Swimming Association (IISA)’s GB Championships, taking place in Cheltenham from 22 to 23 February 2020.

Global smartphone brand HONOR has partnered with IISA to highlight the adventure sport capabilities of the HONOR MagicWatch 2 and a selection of contestants taking part in the races this weekend have tested the watch out as part of their grueling training schedules in the lead up to the tournament.

I wondered whether you would be interested in interviewing IISA’s founder and world record holder Ram Barkai, and some of the contestants about how they get into the adventure sport, their hopes and expectations for the race this weekend and their thoughts on the device?

Featuring a sleek design and a range of health and fitness modes specialized in maximizing your performance in the water, the HONOR MagicWatch 2 is the ultimate training companion.

Please find bios on the swimmers below and a press release with some more information on the collaboration.

Do let me know if you’d be interested in featuring Ram, Jonty or Caroline for a profile story and we can set up a time for a call or email interview. We can also arrange high res imagery and a review sample of the watch if you’d like to learn more about its capabilities.

Thanks

About Ram Barkai – Founder of IISA, Guinness World Record Holder of the Most Southerly Swim

Top UK’s ice swimmers brave the cold with HONOR MagicWatch 2 despite the storms

Ice swimming was formalized and defined by IISA in 2009 as open water swimming done with only a standard swimsuit, a pair of goggles and a cap, in water held in water 5°C or less. The extreme sport is then popularized by Ram Barkai and his fellow ice swimmers South Africans and swiftly gained influence around the globe, from Russia, China to the UK , and the Eastern Seaboard of the USA and Eastern Europe. It first started to promote the Ice Mile and then expanded to the Ice Kilometer, Ice Sevens and the World Ice Swimming Championships. He is currently the Guinness World Record holder for the Most Southerly Swim with his 1km swim in the Southern Ocean of Antarctica. Ram has been previously been featured on BBC News, CNN’s Great Big Story and many more for his pioneering achievement in ice swimming.

Attached please also find the profile on UK’s fastest female ice swimmer – Caroline Saxon and world’s first disabled ice swimmer and board member of IISA – Jonty Warneken for your reference. The two of them will be competing at GB Championship 2020 for 1km and 100/200m freestyle races. Interviews are welcome.
