Battery charging mode changes in Battery Protection after I update BIOS

Battery charging mode changes in Battery Protection after I update BIOS

Problem

Before updating BIOS, the user enables Battery Protection in PC Manager and chooses a mode, such as Family Mode (the battery level for this mode remains between 40% and 70%). The user plugs in the charger when the battery level is between 40% and 70% and the charger only supplies power to the computer but not the computer battery, so the battery level remains unchanged. (To enable Battery Protection, click the Settings icon, choose Settings > Others, and then enable the function.) The charger will only charge the battery when the battery level drops to below 40% after some power-intensive tasks have been running.

After updating BIOS, the battery charging mode changes. For example, when the battery level is 50% and the user chooses Family Mode in which the battery level remains between 40% and 70%, they find that the charger supplies power to both the computer and the battery, and the battery level can reach 70%. The charger will then only charge the battery when the battery level drops to below 40% after some power-intensive tasks have been running.

Cause

Battery Protection allows your computer to stay at a suitable battery level when you insert the charger to charge up your computer. This reduces the length of time and the number of times that you need to charge your computer, as well as prolonging the battery lifespan.

Updating BIOS further optimizes the battery charging mode. When you enable Battery Protection and plug in your charger, the charger will continue to supply power to your battery if the battery level is under the maximum level for the chosen mode. This keeps your computer battery powered for longer after you remove the charger.
