Third-party apps may cache images to avoid having to load them repeatedly and to reduce data usage. Therefore, if there are cached images or suspected junk images in Gallery, perform the following to troubleshoot:
1 Hide the album containing cached or junk images
Go to
.Toggle the switch on for the album that you want to hide.2 Block the album containing cached or junk images
Albums that have been synced to the cloud cannot be blocked.
Go to icon in the upper right corner.
To unblock an album, go to Unblock.
, find the album, and touch3 Delete cached images from Gallery or Files
- Delete the cached images from Gallery.
- If an image still appears after you delete it, touch the image thumbnail, then touch
in the upper right corner to view its save path. Back up data of the third-party app, find the save path of the image in Files, delete the folders of cached third-party images in batches, uninstall the third-party app, and check whether the issue is resolved.
4 Clear Gallery data
- Open Settings, then search for and touch Apps. Find Gallery in the apps list, then go to .
- Open Settings, search for and touch Apps, then go to . Find Media Storage in the apps list, then go to .
Clear data will restore Highlights and remove the My favorites, Discover, and photos in Shared albums. You will need to configure the related settings again after performing those operations.
