My phone/tablet automatically updates the system or downloads the update package |
Your phone/tablet will automatically download the available update package or update the system when Auto-download over Wi-Fi and Update overnight are enabled.
1 If Auto-download over Wi-Fi is enabled
With Auto-download over Wi-Fi enabled by default, your phone/tablet will automatically download the latest update package when its battery level is greater than 50% and a Wi-Fi connection has been established. You will be prompted to install the update when the download has completed.
- Open Settings, search for and access Software update, touch Settings in the upper right corner, and disable Auto-download over Wi-Fi.
2 If Update overnight is enabled
- The battery level is higher than 35% when not being charged, or higher than 10% while charging.
- Your phone/tablet is not being used, and the screen is locked.
- Your phone/tablet is powered on, and there is no active alarms within the next 30 minutes.
- Update overnight is disabled by default. On certain models, users can touch Continue on the Keep your software up to date screen to enable automatic update download, or touch Update manually to disable automatic update download.
- Update overnight is not available for certain phone/tablet models.
- Update notification rules (Do not tell the user unless asked.)
- If a version update is available and the update package is not yet downloaded, your phone/tablet will send one notification per day, until you choose to download the update package.
- If the update package has been automatically downloaded and is not yet installed, your phone/tablet will send one notification per day, for 30 days.
- If the update package has been manually downloaded and is not yet installed, your phone/tablet will send one notification per day, until you install the update package.
Note: The preceding description applies to regular update packages. For patch releases whose sizes generally range from several KB to several MB, they are released to improve system security, fix issues, or optimize system performance and power consumption. Therefore, you may receive multiple notifications within one day when a patch release is available. It is recommended that you update your phone/tablet at your earliest convenience.
- Turn off the Update overnight switch:
Open Settings, search for and access Software update, touch Settings in the upper right corner, and disable Update overnight.
- Touch Remind me later to display the screen for entering the lock screen password:
After an update package has been downloaded, the lock screen will ask whether you wish to perform an Update overnight. If you would like this feature to take effect, enter your lock screen password. If you do not need an overnight update, touch Remind me later in the upper right corner to access the normal lock screen.
