我的荣耀 开启荣耀之旅
Phone makers are turning to make phones compatible with larger screens that fit into smaller footprints. Then, what they have done? — To offer minimal bezels, taller screens, and embrace cut-out on the top.
As you can see, there are thinner frames in phones launched since 2017. And 2018 has become the year of the notched, bezel-less display. Along with it comes with increased ratio. From the standard 16:9 to the new 18:9 aspect ratio (could be taller: 18.5:9, 19:9 or 19.5:9), screen space gets more. Though it is not good to those like using device with one hand.
In an attempt to offer full screen phones, various notch display phones were born while keep the front facing camera and some essential hardware where it was. And the small cut-out at the top of the screen offers the ability to retain the display space on either side of it, for information such as date, battery statistics and more, and for apps.
Does the combination of a notch and a taller aspect ratio equal out to more vertical space for you, or is it still simply a design nuisance? In late 2018 or early 2019, whether you like it or not, your next phone is probably going to have a cut-out right on the top. But don't you worry, android phone companies like HONOR have already settled on a solution - we have the choice to enable or disable our phone notch display.
Very simply, just go to settings>Display>Notch>Hide notch. To be clear, hiding the Notch is to change the status bar to black, which effectively camouflages the cut-out.
As to HONOR Android phones, the notch contains the phone’s selfie camera and speaker. In 2018, HONOR is now on 4 phones with notches from different price ranges. (HONOR 10, HONOR PLAY, HONOR 8X, HONOR 9N)
Apart from size and resolution, there are some difference in their tall screens. The HONOR 10, PLAY and 9N feature the notch at the top, followed by the chin at the bottom. But the 10 has an ultrasonic fingerprint reader on the chin, when the PLAY and 9N house a significant chin with HONOR branding. Since a full-view screen is more than a notch display, there is no slim chin at the bottom on the new launched HONOR 8X. The model features a huge 6.5-inch Full HD+ 2340×1080 pixels display with a notch above it. And it sports an AI-powered dual primary camera setup and a fingerprint sensor at the back.
