HONOR Takes Part in Guangdong Smart Accessibility City Forum 2021: Empowering Users to Change with Technology

Honor Device Co., Ltd. (Honor) is pleased to announce its participation in Guangdong Smart Accessibility City Forum 2021 entitled "Building Accessibility and Sharing Chinese Dream", which was held at Poly World Trade Center Exhibition Hall in Guangzhou from November 15 to November 17, 2021. Together with Shenzhen Information Accessibility Research Association, Honor unveiled its smart terminal products around information accessibility and delivered a speech entitled "Smart Life: Injecting Humanity into Technology". He shared the concept and practice experience of Honor on information accessibility construction. On this forum, Honor was awarded "Accessible Information Literacy and Outstanding Enterprise" issued by Guangdong Disabled Persons' Federation.

This forum was jointly sponsored by Guangdong Disabled Persons' Federation, Guangdong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Department of Transport of Guangdong Province, and World Health Organization Rehabilitation Cooperation Center. More than 350 institutions from different industries including technology companies, colleges and universities, public facilities construction companies, disabled organizations, elderly care institutions, and medical rehabilitation institutions participated in this forum.

Together with Shenzhen Accessibility Research Association, Honor unveiled its smart terminal products around information accessibility on the smart accessibility city exhibition area. In our booth, we set up the sound interactive experience zone, home interactive area, and all-scenario experience zone to provide interconnected all-scenario smart accessibility solutions oriented to the Internet of Things (IoT) era and rich application scenarios. Many people with disabilities came to visit us.

In the digitalization era, ever-changing technological innovation is inadvertently building a digital wall against the people with disabilities. The development of information accessibility is a way to equally help the people with disabilities navigate in a digital world as well as an important part of achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. China's 14th Five-Year Plan clearly states that information accessibility is an important part of digital society, digital government, and smart city construction.

With the brand vision of creating a new smart world for everyone, Honor strives to pursue the information accessibility concept. In the early stage of business recovery after separating from Huawei, Honor actively participated in the research and drafting of information accessibility and elderly-oriented standards of China Communications Standards Association and other industry associations. In 2021, Honor set up a dedicated information accessibility working group within the company to understand the lifestyle, entertainment, travel, and other habits of the elderly, people with information accessibility difficulties, and minors, analyze their needs, and constantly improve the accessibility functions of core products. On May 20, 2021, Honor, together with 14 institutions including China Association of the Blind and China Electronics Standardization Institute, jointly launched the smart terminal information accessibility initiative. On June 29, Honor participated in the signing ceremony of the Letter of Commitment on Elderly-oriented Transformation organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In addition, Honor participated in the development of General Specification of Mobile Intelligent Terminal Accessibility led by China Electronics Standardization Institute. This file was officially released by China Electronics Standardization Institute on August 26.

To implement the accessibility task, Honor constantly introduced various accessibility functions to its mobile phones. Take the people with visual difficulties as an example. The screen reading function allows users to receive voice feedback. Honor phones can automatically read the specified content that users touch, select, and enable on the screen. With the text-to-speech function, users can hear texts read aloud. The camera of Honor phones can automatically detect the face and position of users. With the screen reading function, the phones inform users of the picture content in the lens through voice, so that people with visual difficulties can take beautiful photos with Honor phones.

As the concept of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) is increasingly popular, Honor actively takes the corresponding social responsibility and implements it in all departments of the Company. In August 2021, Honor set up a dedicated HONOR ESG committee responsible for guiding and supervising the effective implementation of ESG related work.

Promoting information accessibility is one of the most important measures for enterprises to practice social responsibility and the ESG concept.
