When you think of close-up photography, you probably picture something like the images below…stunning detail brought by high-level execution, allowing us to observe our world with heightened clarity, beyond the constraints of the naked eye.

But what if I were to tell you that your close-up smartphone lens could serve a more practical purpose? You could even introduce it to your grandma, to help her better adapt to modern technology and take advantage of all of its benefits!

Did you know…that the HONOR 20's Super Macro Mode can help you sew better? This feature is actually available on all HONOR phones. I just happen to own an HONOR 20.

Simply slide to the far right on the camera modes bar, and enter More, where you will find Super macro. On some recent models, the camera AI will automatically activate this mode if you point the phone close enough to an object, but this must be done manually on the HONOR 20, and most other older devices.

Once in Super macro mode, the lens provides for a magnified view, allowing you to see the thread and needle more clearly than you would with your naked eye. Then push the eye of the needle onto the tip of the thread (yes, not the other way around)!

4 cm is about the length of your little finger, to give you a better idea.

Typically you'd need another person's assistance in holding the phone, as both hands are needed to thread a needle. (If you know how to do it with just one hand, please please let me know!) But if you're home alone, or say your grandma is at home sewing by herself, here's a way to easily stand the phone up with just a simple prop, like a charger:
