My Garmin watch does not receive notifications or alerts

Problem:

After the user's Garmin watch is connected to a phone via Bluetooth, the phone receives notifications but the watch does not receive any notifications.

Solution:

Perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app, touch the menu in the upper left corner, and go to Settings > Notifications > App Notifications to allow specific apps to send notifications to your Garmin watch.

  1. Open Settings, search for and access Battery optimization, go to Battery optimization > Don't allow > All apps, find Connect, and set it to Don't allow.

  1. Open Settings, search for and access Notification access, and turn on the switch next to Smart Notifications/Connect.

  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the Recent task screen and touch the lock icon (or swipe down on the app preview) to lock the app .

  1. Open Settings, search for and access Launch or App launch, touch Launch or App launch, touch Connect, and enable Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background.

  2. If the issue persists, disable and enable Notification access on your phone and try again.
