Phone heats up when taking photos and videos

Phone heats up when taking photos and videos

Problem:

The phone heats up when the user is taking photos or shooting videos.

Cause:

Photo and video shooting requires the camera, GPU, and CPU to work together. As a result, during imaging or image processing, the phone processes a lot of data, and consumes a large amount of power, causing it to heat up.

Solution:

  1. When you are recording videos or taking photos in high-resolution or high-frame-rate mode, Pro mode, Wide aperture mode, Portrait mode, or Long focus mode, the calculation workload is higher and your phone heats up more than in default mode. This is normal. After using such modes, switch back to the default mode, turn off the camera, and turn off the screen.
  2. If you take photos or record videos in an outdoor environment exposed to sunlight, your phone will absorb solar radiation and automatically adjust the screen brightness to a higher level, resulting in higher heat consumption than in a low light environment. Stop shooting when you feel that your phone is overheating and place your phone in a cool place.
  3. The high temperature can degrade the phone's performance and lead to unresponsiveness, delay, and unsmooth operation. If the phone heats up significantly when you take photos or videos, please wait until the phone temperature returns to normal. At the same time, HONOR equips our phones with a perfect overheat protection mechanism. When it detects that components or the cover are overheated, the Camera app will close automatically. Please do not worry. This is normal, and you can continue to use the Camera app after the temperature is lowered.
