Why does the watch consumes power so quickly? How to improve the standby time of the watch

Problem

The watch consumes power quickly and has a short standby time.

Cause

  1. Quick power consumption on the watch is related to frequent screen wakeup. You may wake up the screen too frequently by raising your wrist in some special scenarios, such as mountaineering. In these cases, your watch is inadvertently and frequently kept at the same angle as that for waking the screen by raising your wrist for a long time, increasing the number of times the screen wakes up, resulting in increased power consumption.
  2. Frequent notification alerts, all-day heart rate monitoring, stress level testing, TruSleepTM, blood oxygen level measuring, and other functions on the watch will increase power consumption.
  3. The magnitude of current required by the watch for monitoring heart rate and measuring blood oxygen level varies due to individual physical differences, causing power consumption differences.
  4. Frequent use of a Bluetooth headset increases the power consumption of the watch.
  5. Some watch faces from the Watch Face Store will increase power consumption to some extent due to high brightness or dynamic displaying, affecting the standby time.
  6. Use of the standby watch face will greatly increase power consumption as the watch screen is always on, affecting the standby time.
  7. Disabling the Silent mode of the watch consumes more power and affects the standby time.
  8. Turning up the volume when you use the watch to make a call, listen to music, or receive a voice prompt consumes more power and affects the standby time.
  9. If the Always On Display mode, voice broadcast, smart coach, and other functions of the watch are enabled during a workout, it will consume more power to some extent and affect the standby time.

Solution

To extend the standby time of the watch, you are advised to perform the following operations:

  1. Disable the standby watch face on your watch. When necessary, enable the function of screen wakeup by raising your wrist, so that you can check the time and monitor your heart rate anytime and anywhere, and greatly save battery power, creating a better standby experience.
  2. If it is necessary to enable the continuous heart rate monitoring function of the watch, select the intelligent heart rate monitoring mode, which can not only meet your needs for daily heart rate monitoring, but also help save power, creating a better standby experience.
  3. In your daily use, set the screen brightness and sleep time to automatic mode (Settings > Display & brightness > Screen brightness and sleep). Avoid using the maximum brightness for extended periods of time and a sleep time that is too long, so that you can save more power and enjoy a better visual and standby experience.
  4. Go to Settings > Sound > Silent mode and enable the Silent mode, making the watch vibrate only without ringing, so that you can clearly sense vibration through skin and receive the notification alerts for calls, SMS or alarms, and will not be disturbed by ringing, saving more power and creating a better standby experience.
  5. Select the watch faces with lower brightness from the Watch Face Store in the Health app and avoid using dynamic ones.
  6. When you do not use the function of screen wakeup by raising your wrist, disable this function in the Health app.
  7. Open the Health app, go to the details page of the watch, open the Notification Management menu, and turn off notifications from apps that you do not care about.
  8. If you do not need the Bluetooth Disconnect Reminder, turn it off in the Health app.
  9. Disable the automatic heart rate monitoring, TruSleepTM, and automatic blood oxygen level measuring functions of the watch and enable them only when needed. Single heart rate monitoring, general sleep monitoring, and single blood oxygen level measuring can meet your daily needs.
  10. When the battery is low, avoid using the watch to talk or listen to music on the headset.
  11. When possible, it is recommended to set your watch to a moderate volume when answering a call, listening to music, or receiving voice prompts during workout, and do not turn up the volume to the maximum. In this way, you can save more power, and enjoy a better auditory and standby experience.
  12. Enabling Outdoor Workout or other modes consumes more power. It is recommended that you disable the Always On Display mode (Settings > Exercise > Always On Display) on the watch during workout. If you enable the function of screen wakeup by raising your wrist, you can also timely receive workout data when you want to know it, saving more power and creating a better workout and standby experience.
  13. After you change the above settings, if your watch shows a green light during use, you may have enable the Run mode or Heart Rate Monitoring mode by mistake, which will consume more power. You are advised to quit the two modes.
