Only some apps cannot use mobile data to access the Internet
- First, try to open multiple apps on the phone to see if there are more than one apps that cannot connect to the Internet. If only one app fails, try to uninstall/reinstall that app first.
- Enable mobile data for the corresponding app: Open Settings, search for Mobile data, and tap it to access Network access and see if the mobile data permission is checked for these apps.
- If the date displayed on your phone is wrong, some apps may be unable to parse the server so cannot access the Internet. It is recommended that you set the date to change automatically: Open Settings, search for and access Date & time, and enable Set automatically.
Ensure that the SIM card is not suspended due to being out of credit
You can make a call to check if the phone is out of credit. If your SIM card is out of credit, top it up and try connecting to the Internet again.
Ensure that the mobile data SIM card is correctly configured
- Swipe down from the status bar on the screen to display the shortcuts menu, and enable Mobile data.
- If you are using two SIM cards, open Settings, then search for and access Default mobile data. Make sure that the SIM card in Default mobile data is the correct one.
The phone cannot access the Internet due to temporary network errors
Your phone may be unable to access the Internet using mobile data due to temporary network errors. In this case, enable and then disable Airplane mode, or restart your phone and try again.
The phone cannot access the Internet when connected to a VPN
If a key icon appears on the status bar, your phone has connected to a VPN, which can cause slower network speeds, or failure to access a mobile data network. To disconnect from a VPN, open Settings, search for VPN and access the settings screen, then disconnect VPN. Alternatively, you can close the VPN app.
Move to another location
It is suggested that you compare other nearby cell phones using the same carrier's SIM card, if they all have this issue, it may be that the network quality in your location is poor, resulting in unable to access the Internet. You can move to another location and try again.
The phone cannot access the Internet when the 5G switch is on (only applicable to 5G phones)
The network in some places has compatibility issues, resulting in the 5G phone being unable to access the Internet using mobile data. Turn off the 5G switch and try again. To turn off 5G, swipe down from the status bar to show the shortcuts menu, touch and hold Mobile data, and turn off 5G.
The phone cannot access the Internet using international roaming
- To resolve this issue, swipe down from the status bar to show the shortcuts menu, touch and hold Mobile data, and enable Data roaming in the settings screen.
- Contact your SIM card carrier to check whether the data roaming service is supported by the network of the local carrier and whether your mobile data plan supports international roaming.
Reset APN and network settings
If the above scenarios do not apply, please try the following:
- Open Settings,search for APN in the top search bar, and tap Access Point Names (APNs)to access the settings screen for Mobile data. Tap Access Point Names (APNs)again, tap, and selectReset to default.
- Alternatively, open Settings, search for and access , and tap Reset network settings.
This will clear all your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection data. The lock screen password is required for verification when resetting network settings.
If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an HONOR Authorized Service Center for assistance.
